Harriet's Story

A young woman's story of survival in the Second World War

Harry's Game is a series of historical fiction novels set in the Second World War, and follow the story of Harriet Cornwall who, due to a twist of fate in the confusion of May 1940, ended up attached to a British fighter squadron of the Auxiliary Air Force, when the 'Phoney War' in France turned hot, as the might of the German war machine crashed through French and British defences.

While Harriet and her friends are fictional characters, their stories are carefully entwined with the very real events of the Second World War, from the early days of the Battle of France onwards.

A great deal of research has gone into making sure that the language, actions, and environment in the books are accurate to the period, including exmining specific battles and talking to veterans of the period over many years, to make sure that both the military and civilian worlds and attitudes, including those about a woman's place in a changing world at war. The only real difference from the reality of World War Two is that the lead character is a woman, and what a woman she is!
